Perfect Christmas entertainment, can run over a dinner or as an event in it's own right.
This production of 'A Christmas Carol' mixes the verve and energy of a stage play with the fire and passion of Dickens’ own public readings of his works. Using no other words than those Dickens himself wrote, this one man play relates the infamous tale of Scrooge and the Spirits with beautiful simplicity. The unique character of Dickens’ narrative persona, so often lost in adaptations, survives strongly here in a marriage of the power of literature with the mesmerising qualities of live theatre. Our production of A Christmas Carol returns to the basics of storytelling in a style reminiscent of Dickens’ readings. We use nothing but Dickens’ own words, abridged to create a lively, exuberant and extremely effective production of this timeless work. Lighting and sound effects, props and cast numbers are minimised in favour of the simplicity of one person standing by a fireside, telling a story to a group of friends. As Dickens once did, Christopher Kelham plays the part of the Reader, Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and all of the other characters from the novel. They are given fresh life and energy by this extremely versatile, experienced and award-winning actor. Also Dickensian clad singers, performing Christmas classics over aperitifs for a bespoke evening of deluxe entertainment.
